Juri Naidenov

Software engineer. Currently making a game.

I’m Juri.
I’m building Total Influence.

I’ve spent years building software, from banking apps to blockchain infrastructure. These days, my main project is a turn-based tactics game of my own.

The idea

Something I wanted to play.

I like Fallout Tactics and Jagged Alliance. I wanted that kind of combat with another person on the other side of the battlefield. That’s where Total Influence started.

The demo is deliberately small: equip two fighters, spend action points to move and attack, and try a fight against a bot or another player. It’s early, but you can already sit down and play.

I’m working toward maps and equipment placement that give you a reason to explore, rather than finding everything in a crate at the start.

Behind the game

The whole thing, piece by piece.

My work spans the game rules, multiplayer server, 3D rendering, interface, and the editor used to build the maps. A change to one often turns into a question for the others.

A shot has to make sense in the rules, look right on screen, and be understandable before you spend your action points. Getting those parts to agree is a big part of what I’m building.

Before this chapter

A few different kinds of software.

Before Total Influence, I worked on banking and mobile apps, blockchain infrastructure, and developer tools. At Waves, that included the blockchain node, libraries for developers, and a browser-based IDE. I’ve also shared that work at conferences and workshops.
